RUBBER COOLING MACHINE [BATCH-OFF]

Rubber compound cooling machines, commonly known as Batch-offs, are essential for cooling rubber compounds after the mixing process. Post-mixing, the rubber mixtures are heated and need to be cooled for subsequent operations or for the addition of accelerators.

At RPMMACH, we specialize in designing and producing a wide range of Batch-offs tailored to meet our customers’ specific needs, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

There are two primary types of Batch-offs used for this cooling process:

HANGING TYPE BATCH-OFF COOLING UNITS

Batch-off cooling units are typically used at the exit of open mixing mill . These units are designed to handle the high feeding speed of the rubber open mixing mill, ensuring efficient cooling of the rubber mixture.

Cooling Process:
  • The Batch-offs utilize a fan system to cool the air, which is then accelerated to 5-10°C below the ambient temperature and directed onto the compound plates.
  • RPM’s Hanging Batch-offs offer cooling capacities ranging from 1000 kg/hour to 5000 kg/hour, depending on the machine size and design.
Functional Options:
  • Sticking Cylinder: At the compound plate entrance, a sticking cylinder ensures continuous compound flow by sticking the compound batches together.
  • Anti-Tack Tank: An optional tank for anti-tack application prevents the compound from sticking together. The compound can either pass through this tank or be directed straight to the belts and hangers, bypassing the tank if not needed.
  • Compound Slicing System: This system, typically placed at the Batch-off entrance but also available at the exit, uses high-quality, wear-resistant carbide circular blades. In some cases, hydraulic pressure is applied for this option.
  • Optical Sensors: These sensors monitor the movement of the compound mass within the Batch-off, controlling when it advances, stops, or if any dough has fallen.
  • Stainless Steel Carriers: The compound carriers are made from stainless steel for durability if desired.
  • Metal Detector: An optional metal sensor can be installed at the Batch-off exit to detect any metal contamination in the compound, a feature requested by some customers.
  • Wig-Wag Stacking Mechanism: At the final compound exit, a wig-wag stacking mechanism is available for free pallet stacking. For regular stacking, we offer systems with elevators that lower as compound is added, along with edge-folding options.
  • Automatic compound Length Cutting: An automatic cutting system for compound length can be applied at the exit if desired.
  • U-Shaped Batch-offs with Return System: These can be produced according to specific needs.

BELT [FLAT] TYPE BATCH-OFF COOLING UNITS

Our belt Batch-off Rubber compound Cooling Machines are versatile and can be manufactured using stainless steel belts, PA heat-resistant belts, or Teflon wear and heat-resistant belts. These machines are particularly effective for carrying and cooling very thin-walled compounds, which can be challenging for Hanging Batch-offs. While our Batch-offs have smaller carrying and cooling capacities compared to Hanging Batch-offs, they excel in handling delicate, thin-walled compounds with ease.

To enhance compound cooling capacity, we offer options to increase the number of conveyor belts. Our standard production includes 5-layer Batch-offs, but we also provide 7 and 9-layered configurations to meet diverse needs. The compound conveyor belts operate using a layered, flat motion method with a forward-backward transmission system, ensuring smooth and efficient processing.

Quiet Operation: Our PA6.6 (Polyamide 6.6) belted 5-layer Batch-offs have become highly sought after in recent years due to their noise-free operation and reliable performance.

Slicing Blades: Can be applied at the entrance or exit for precise compound handling.

It is not recommended to place these types of Batch-offs directly at the exit of the open mixing mill. Although the belt speeds can be adjusted according to the cylinder speeds, they may be insufficient in terms of cooling speed, or the compound may need to wait for 5-6 minutes in the Batch-off. For these scenarios, we recommend Conical Screw Feeding machines that can feed the compound plate at low speeds, ensuring continuous and uninterrupted compound feeding.

These banded and layered Batch-off systems are popular in the tire manufacturing sector, especially when placed at the exit of the composite tire preform extruder.

CLOSED CLIMATIC COOLING UNITS

Since 2012, RPMMACH has been producing patented closed climatic Batch-offs. These units achieve rapid cooling by introducing cold air, produced in an external system using standard air conditioning gas, into the Batch-off. Their cooling capacity is notably high.

Features:

  • High Cooling Capacity: These units provide fast and efficient cooling.
  • Design: Currently, climatic Batch-offs are produced in a belted and folded manner. Climatic cooling has not yet been tested in the hanging Batch-off system, but studies are planned.

RPMMACH designs and produces various types of Batch-offs to meet the specific needs of our customers, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
